Has Google Checkout Stopped Paying Its Merchants?

Has Google Checkout Stopped Paying Its Merchants? There have been several unconfirmed reports now that Google Checkout payments haven’t been posted for several weeks now, and support emails are going unanswered for days on end. I am sorry guys if I kept you busy with the PCI thing last week but one word of advice, the quickest way to get a bad reputation in the merchant services industry as a third party biller is not to pay your end merchants. While I can accept the fact that you may have gone WAY over budget with the project, you really have to make sure that merchants are paid, period, no questions asked. Corporate may just have to cough up these holidays payouts and take it as a serious loss, guys.

Interestingly enough, this comes at possibly the worst time for Google Checkout as their new fee structure is set to begin February 1st, meaning merchants who saw the value in Google’s free processing for over a year are now going to have to consider paying the 2%. Some analysts suggest this will cut Google’s processing volume by as much as 90%.

With developers on their way out, security and technical concerns rampant, and the possibility that payments have been held up for weeks on end, could my earlier prediction be true and Google may just drop the entire Checkout program? Maybe it’s time Google realizes that they are great at search and got lucky with YouTube, everything short of that should really go on the backburner.

  1. Has anyone actually confirmed that?
I think that if such mistake happens, its a real mistake, google would not scam anyone, I hope lol

  2. I would not be surprised if it was some hacker’s action or something like that, as google checkout needs a lot of development, it has too many errors :P

  3. Well, Google Checkout has soooo many things to develop yet, they are a way too far from being as big as paypal is, and this thing is not good, I hope they work it out soon or they’ll start to lose customers

  4. I’d say it is common, I mean, it’s certainly a mistake, they are not scamming anyone, and it is pretty normal as they are new at these merchant services, mistakes happen!

  5. I don’t think Google would scam anyone per their mission to take over the world. They’re not bad enough to do that. Hehe. Google Checkout is a bit late though, since PayPal has already reign over online payment for many years already. It’s hard to catch up since many people has already been so comfortable with PayPal (like myself).
