Update on Google Checkout and MasterCard
Google Checkout. I am happy to report that I received confirmation from Google directly that they have taken the necessary steps to complete their PCI certification. In less than a week after our post about Google not being PCI Compliant, the good people at Google quickly responded to the matter and have completed all of the requirements to renew their PCI validation. Having gone through the process myself, I can say it’s a grueling process and for them to have pushed it through at warp speed like that was very impressive. We got a lot of attention from the matter, including over 100 unique visits from Google employees themselves and over 2,500 visitors beyond that, so there was certainly interest. My hats off to the team at Google Checkout.
MasterCard.com - As reported earlier, MasterCard removed the infected search page from their site. We had been welcomed with over 25 unique visitors directly from MasterCard immediately following the story, so it was great to see their response.
This shows two things. Number one, that Merchant Talk is creating the type of thing this industry has been waiting for, a third party to help identify these issues in a way that the industry can listen to. And number two, it shows the industry is willing to listen if there is enough interest. Unfortunately, until now, payment services were never “sexy” enough for the general public but we are doing what we can to identify the areas needing improvement in a way never tried before.
Thanks everyone for turning Merchant Talk into a virtual overnight success!

Wow, that is impressive (both the companies’ fast responses as well as Merchant Talk’s influence)

Congratulations, I really like this blog and I think a lot of other people do too. If you continue to write great pieces like those, you are bound to have success (as well as become a trusted site in the niche)

Thanks everyone for the great emails and show of support. Keep spreading the word to anyone and everyone out there, your email referrals have been just great! Tell anyone and everyone and before long we’ll get the word out that merchants are no longer going to go quietly into the night while the merchant industry has gone unchecked for long enough!

that is great, its really good that google is actually hearing to their customers, IMO, having a good relation with the customer is essential in any biz!

Mastercard has a terrible customer service and so does google checkout, they need a lot of improvement on that if they want to get bigger!

Good to see Google’s immediate action to maintain the requirements to renew their PCI validation.
Anyways the word has already been spread all over, I think. If not eventually they will.:)
